On May 7, 2025, India launched Operation Sindoor, a series of precision strikes targeting nine locations in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The operation was a direct response to the deadly Pahalgam terror attack in Indian Kashmir, which killed 26 civilians, mostly Hindu tourists.
Indian officials stated the strikes were focused on dismantling infrastructure linked to terror groups Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), both accused of orchestrating attacks on Indian soil.
More Terror Hubs reported by Intel, are under attack?
Reports are coming from all the major cities of Pakistan, which are under attack. Pakistani Army official claims that Indian Drones are hitting the various cities of Pakistan.
According to the sources, it is coming out that more Terror Hubs and camps in Pakistan are marked and targeted by Indian Drones including the hides of Prominent Leaders of these Terror groups including Azhar Masood.
Azhar Masood may be seriously injured in one of the attack, but not confirmed yet.
Key Targets and Methods
The Indian military used advanced drones and fighter jets to hit camps in Bahawalpur, Muridke, and other sites known for terrorist activity. Bahawalpur, notably, is the headquarters of JeM, led by Maulana Masood Azhar, a UN-designated terrorist. The strikes included drone attacks, with Pakistani officials confirming the downing of an Indian drone over Lahore.
Impact on Azhar Masood and Associates
Masood Azhar publicly stated that 10 of his relatives, including five children, were killed in the Indian airstrikes on JeM’s Bahawalpur headquarters. While Azhar himself was not reported killed or injured, the targeted strikes on his organization’s core facilities mark a significant escalation. Indian sources emphasize that only terror infrastructure was targeted, not civilian or military sites.
The strikes triggered a sharp military standoff, with Pakistan retaliating and both sides reporting casualties. Airspace closures, school shutdowns, and flight diversions followed in both countries. The operation has heightened regional tensions, with both governments trading accusations and managing information campaigns.
Who is Masood Azhar?
Maulana Masood Azhar is the founder and chief of Jaish-e-Mohammed, implicated in major attacks like the 2001 Indian Parliament assault and the 2019 Pulwama bombing. Based in Bahawalpur, Azhar has long evaded international capture, operating under the protection of Pakistan’s security establishment.
